Victorias employees, cops undergo drug test

MORE than 500 officials, permanent, casual, and job order employees, including the 44 members of the Victorias City Police Office, underwent a surprise drug test after the city’s flag ceremony Monday.

Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca said that he used his police power to implement the surprise drug test in their quest to become a drug-free City Hall and Victorias City.

The drug test was conducted at the city's gymnasium.

Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, city police chief, said the police is thankful for the free drug test.

Palanca said that those who will be tested positive for illegal drugs will be sent to a rehabilitation center.

Palanca, president of the Association of Chief Executives (Ace)-Negros, said that he also urges other mayors in the province to implement the same surprise drug test among its employees.

Government employees are required to undergo drug test as one of their employment requirements. (TDE)
