Pagcor, LW, donate classroom building to Bacolor school

BACOLOR – The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) and Leisure World (LW) through the initiative of this town’s Mayor Jose Maria "Jomar" Hizon, donated a P2.8 million three-classroom building to the Bacolor High School (BHS).

Hizon, who led other local government officials during the ground breaking ceremony yesterday, said construction of the building will soon start in time for school year 2014-2015.

He said the project will be added to the BHS learning facilities to accommodate more students in the next opening of classes.

Hizon said the first school building was donated by the IBACA Foundation which his mother Lolita, is the founder. He pointed to the newly constructed building which business tycoon Lucio Tan sponsored and another one built by the local government unit of Bacolor.

The project, Hizon said, was “a fruit of consistent follow-up with the management of Leisure World and Pagcor after he wrote a letter requesting for a two classrooms building.”

“With the kindness of Leisure World and Pagcor, they decided to donate three classrooms,” said Hizon, as he expressed thanks to Leisure World and Pagcor.

The donation is Pagcor’s first school project for this year in Pampanga. Several classrooms have been donated to the province last year.

Hizon encouraged BHS students to study hard for the fulfillment of their dreams in the future. “Kayong mga bata, pag-igihan n’yo ang pag-aaral dahil ito ay para sa inyong kinabukasan.”

BHS has a total of 218 students, and enrollees are expected to increase in the next school year, said Cynthia Paulino, BHS officer-in-charge.

Leisure World vice-president Rene Nuñez for his part, said the project is part of Pagcor Chairman Cristino “Bong” Naguiat’s priorities to build classrooms in the countryside.

He said that Leisure World and Pagcor are ready to extend assistance for the education of children, especially the marginalized.
