Guv to village execs, police: Protect the people

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – "When you decided to serve as the public, your life has already been dedicated to protect the safety of your people."

Thus said Governor Lilia Pineda on Monday, as she met village officials and police chiefs from Macabebe and Masantol at Capitol, where she appealed for the protection of their respective constituents, whether they are government officials or ordinary citizens.

The governor stressed she was saddened by the recent killings in Porac, Masantol and Macabebe, involving a municipal employee, newly elected Barangay San Jose chief Danilo Manalang, and an ordinary family man.

She also lamented that in Porac, a member of Aniban ng Nakakaisang Mamamayan ng Hacienda Dolores identified as Arman Padinio was killed and three others were injured in a clash over the disputed land in Barangay Hacienda Dolores over the weekend.

The governor asked the barangay executives to take the spate of killings seriously and to take the lead in preventing crimes in their respective areas.

"When we won, we pledged to the people before God that we will do our best to protect them and make sure that our communities would become ideal havens of peace and prosperity," said Governor Pineda. (Kristine Venet Q. Andal)
