Boy, 13, hit by bullet

A 13-YEAR-OLD boy is confined at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center after he was hit by a bullet from his father’s gun at Purok Paghidaet, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City Tuesday morning.

Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, acting city police director, said he ordered Police Station 7 chief Jose Mulleta on Wednesday to visit the house of the victim and convince the boy’s father, a barangay tanod, to surrender his firearm.

Ordaniel said at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, while the sister of the victim was cleaning their bedroom, a .38 caliber fell from the bed and went off, hitting the minor, who was at the time charging his mobile phone.

He said the victim was wounded in his stomach.

Ordaniel said they will check if the firearm of the barangay tanod is licensed.

The city police chief reminded firearm owners to secure their firearms to avoid untoward incidents. (MAP)
