Teen hangs self

FAILING grades drove a 16-year-old boy to commit suicide inside his house in Sitio Kan-irag, Barangay Malubog, Cebu City last Wednesday.

Gerald (not his real name) was found by his mother around 6 p.m. hanging inside his room. He had tied a blanket around his neck.

SPO4 Alex Dacua of the Homicide Section said the boy’s mother was supposed to talk to
Gerald after he failed his class.

The school adviser informed Gerald’s mother that he wouldn’t be going to fourth year high school.

When his mother entered the room, she was shocked to see her son’s hanging body. She immediately called for help and removed the blanket around his neck.

The family attempted to save Gerald, but he was already dead.

Before the incident, the boy reportedly told his classmates about his plan after their teacher informed him that he wouldn’t be moving on to the next year.
