Akyat Bahay gang strike in Angeles

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- Suspected members of the Akyat Bahay gang struck in Angeles City recently, carting away some P500,000 worth of personal belongings and cash from two separate houses in Barangays Balibago and Pulungbulu.

In a report, police said the house of William Richard Decoty, 36, an American residing at Sta. Maria Village 1, Barangay Balibago, was burglarized by unidentified men.

Police said that the victim left his house at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday and when he returned the following day discovered that the main door of his house was partially open and the lights of his master's bedroom were on.

Authorities said the suspects carted away his Apple laptop, one Apple IPod and US$5,000 placed inside the closet.

In Pulungbulu, a businesswoman identified as Arlene Reilly, 39, owner of Reilly Apartment and a resident of El Cano Subdivision left her house in the morning of Tuesday and when she returned in the afternoon, discovered that all her belongings were missing, police said.

The suspects forcibly entered her house by destroying the room’s door knob and carted P20,000 placed inside the cabinet, the report said.

Her two tenants identified as Leonida Azarcon, 38, and Aldous Manzano, 46, a retired US navyman, were also victims of burglars, police said.

Carted away from Azarcon were an IPod touch, mini IPad, Sony Vio laptop, and a necklace, while stolen from Manzano were two HP laptops, US$400 and his backpack. (Ric Sapnu)
