Cops deployed in billeting areas today

POLICEMEN will be deployed starting today in different billeting areas of athletes and coaches who will participate in the Batang Pinoy National Finals in Bacolod City from January 28 to February 1.

Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said on Friday that athletes and coaches will start arriving this weekend.

He said the security plan is ready, and about four policemen will be deployed in every billeting area to ensure the safety of the participants.

Players and coaches from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be housed in 11 billeting areas in Bacolod City.

Andres Bonifacio Elementary School I will house the Western Visayas delegation; Andres Bonifacio Elementary School II, Eastern Visayas; C.L. Montelibano Elementary School and D. A. Montelibano Elementary School, Central Visayas; A. L. Jayme Elementary School and Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School, Mindanao; Rizal Elementary School, Education and Training Center School I, II and III, Luzon.

Ordaniel said they are still waiting for the additional 150 policemen from Police Regional Office-6 to augment the BCPO personnel.

He said the additional policemen will be deployed not only during the Batang Pinoy National Finals but also during the Bacolaodiat Festival.

Ordanilel is hoping that the regional office will grant their request to ensure peace and order during two big events in the city.

He said the BCPO has a total of 600 policemen, and they need augmentation for the upcoming events.
