All set for Batang Pinoy

IT’S all systems go for the staging of this year’s edition of the Batang Pinoy National Finals in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental from January 28 to February 1.

Provincial Information Office head Karen Dinsay said over dyEZ-Aksyon Radyo’s Sunday sports program “Aksyon Isports” that all playing venues and billeting areas for the week-long competition are already in place.

Some 2,500 delegates from across the country will compete for the top honors with 824 delegates coming from Luzon, 647 from the Visayas, 569 from Mindanao, and 500 from hosts Bacolod and Negros Occidental.

Participants and their coaches will be billeted in 10 public schools in Bacolod with Andres Bonifacio Elementary School I housing the Western Visayas delegation.

Andres Bonifacio Elementary School II is reserved for Eastern Visayas;

C.L. Montelibano Elementary School and D. A. Montelibano Elementary School, Central Visayas; A.L. Jayme Elementary School-Mansilingan and Agro-Industrial High School, Mindanao; and Rizal Elementary School, Education and Training Center School I, II and III, Luzon.

Technical officials will stay at the Bacolod City National High School and Panaad Park and Stadium.

The 21 events to be contested include arnis, athletics, swimming, and triathlon at Panaad Stadium; new access road, cycling; boxing, BAYS Center; dance sport and cheerdance competition, and volleyball, University of St. La Salle; lawn tennis, Montevista Tennis Association court; table tennis, Lopue’s San Sebastian; badminton, Pohang Badminton Center; Chess at the Government Center’s MassKara Hall; softball and taekwondo, Bacolod City High School; futsal, NOMPAC gym; basketball 3-on-3, Bacolod Tay Tung High School; sepak takraw, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos; weightlifting, SM transport hub; karatedo, Robinsons Place; and wrestling, Gaisano Grand mall.
