THE Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., (DCCCII) cited Sun.Star Davao with a business commendation for its invaluable support to the chamber during the 46th installation of DCCCII officers and trustees at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao on January 31.
Sun.Star Davao editor Antonio R. Colina IV received the plaque for the paper.
The award recognized Sun.Star Davao's "outstanding support in helping realize the 2013 thrusts and programs of DCCCII, thereby significantly furthering the chamber's role as a staunch advocate and service provider for the business community of Davao City".
The newspaper was among the local media outfits that covered the major events organized by the DCCCII in 2013, the Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions, Exhibitions and Events (Mice) Conference in March, 22nd Mindanao Business Conference in August, and the Davao Trade Expo (Date) in October.
Sun.Star Davao also played a role in disseminating the chamber's activities and achievements, like when it was named as the most outstanding city chamber in Mindanao and the Philippines in 2013 by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Six other outfits were also given the business commendation: GMA 5, ABS-CBN, Edge Davao, Mindanao Times, MindaNews, and Philippine Information Agency.
