Police to enforce curfew in Bacolod village

A CURFEW for minors in Barangay 35 will be enforced to address the “akyat-bahay” or house break-ins in the area, a top police official said.

Several “akyat-bahay” incidents were recorded in the area of Barangay 35 in recent weeks, and some of the suspects were minors.

Superintendent Leonardo Borromeo, commander of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Station 1, said he is waiting for the decision of Barangay 35 village chief Manuel Huelar Jr. on when to enforce the curfew.

Borromeo said that as soon as the village chief will give him a go-signal, they will enforce the curfew for minors from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Those who are violating the law will be apprehended and turned over to their parents, he said.

The police has also tapped the tanods or village watchmen of Barangay 35 to maintain the peace and order in the barangay.

Borromeo said he is thankful that Huelar is cooperating with the police, adding that they already have the names of the suspects responsible in the “akyat-bahay” incidents in the village.

He added that the minors, who are under the influence of illegal drugs, have been responsible for the robbery incidents within his area.
