SENATORS Franklin Drilon and Teofisto Guingona III urged Wednesday the Philippine National Police to immediately secure the release of three foreigners and a Filipina abducted by unidentified gunmen in Davao del Norte on Monday.
“I condemn in the strongest terms the recent abductions of these foreigners along with a Filipino woman in Davao and call upon the Philippine National Police to ensure safe return of these individuals to their families and arrest the perpetrators of this crime the soonest,” Drilon said.
While the case is isolated in Mindanao, Drilon said that such unlawful act “has no place in the society.”
Guingona said he was “very offended” by the kidnapping case, noting that it can hamper the country’s tourism industry.
The abduction of two Canadians, a Norwegian, and a Filipino woman took place at a resort in Samal Island in Davao del Norte.
“Coming from Mindanao, I feel really very offended that this can still happen. Definitely these people have to be caught and this practice has to be eliminated. We have to put an end into this,” Guingona said. (Sunnex)
