Pampanga targets P1M for Bohol rehab

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Pampanga Multi-Sectoral Partnership for Generation of Aid for Visayas and Palawan is now looking at raising more than P1 million donations and contributions for the rehabilitation of the historic Loboc church in Bohol.

This came as Auxiliary Bishop Pablo Virgilio David joined by businesswoman Tess Laus, City of San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago Ferdinand Caylao of Talete King Payulung Inc. and other partners presented to the local the Loboc Children's Choir who had one benefit show on Friday, a Valentine's Day,

The group is set to end their two-day show Saturday for the benefit of those hit by recent calamities in Bohol. The second, a by-invitation only dinner-concert, will be hosted by Laus Group of Companies chairman and chief executive officer Levy Laus at his residence in the City of San Fernando Friday night at 6 p.m., the statement added.

Dubbed as "Heart and Soul: Two Evenings of Fine Music for a Cause," the concerts united Bohol’s top performing group with another world-class artist, premier violinist Coke Bolipata. Pampanga’s very own Sinukwan Performing Arts and Arti-Sta. Rita will do the front act for the Angeles and San Fernando concerts, respectively.

David in a separate interview said that the initiative hopes to help in the rebuilding of the Loboc church. He added that the structure will be rebuilt faithful to its original structure but retrofitted with more durable and quake resistant materials.

"The people from the Visayas have helped Pampanga for almost ten years after Mt. Pintubo. It is time that we return the same favor and help in a more long term manner,” David said. David said that the Loboc Children’s Choir is in Pampanga to help encourage support for Bohol.

David also thanked business couple Levy Laus and Tess Laus for their support to the program and in opening their home today for the group’s concert.

The choir’s Pampanga engagement was initiated by Curia Sancti Rosarii, Inc., an affiliate of Holy Rosary Parish which is among the prime movers of Pampanga for Visayas/Palawan (Pampanga Multi-Sectoral Partnership for Generation of Aid for Visayas/Palawan).

Pampanga for Visayas/Palawan is a multi-sectoral undertaking to mobilize resources in aid of communities affected by the natural calamities that hit the country last year. It could be remembered that a magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit Bohol and neighboring provinces last October 15, 2013.

It has engaged in the organized mobilization and deployment of material and financial assistance to various communities in Visayas and Palawan.

The initiative generated at least P7.5 M in cash from individual, corporate and group donations that were coursed through the Social Action Center of Pampanga (SACOP) and Holy Rosary Parish in Angeles City.

The full proceeds of the concert will be turned over to the Diocese of Tagbilaran and the Loboc Children’s Choir on a 75 and 25 percent sharing scheme.

The Loboc Children’s Choir held their first concert here yesterday at the Holy Angel University Theater in Angeles City.
