250 attendees to Iloilo business summit in Makati

MAYOR Jed Patrick Mabilog confirmed a total of 250 participants composed of chief operating officers and owners of blue chips corporations based in Metro Manila and Iloilo City to the first ever Iloilo Business Summit slated on March 12 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Makati City.

The summit will focus on Iloilo City business and investment potential. It will also hear the testimonies and true experiences of early business locators on why they chose Iloilo as the area to invest.

Mabilog said the participants also include investment trade groups and trade missions from Europe, the United States and other Asian countries.

Top-notch Ilonggo business leaders invited in the forum include Rogelio Florete, a media mogul, grains trader, water supplier and shopping mall owner; Oscar Lopez of the Lopez Group of Companies and Benpress Holdings; Gabby Lopez of the ABS-CBN; and brothers Alfonso and Felipe Uygongco of the hotel, grain trading and shipping businesses, among others.

Mabilog said the business summit is part of the Invest project implemented by the United States Agency for International Development and Iloilo Local Economic Development in three cities in the country.

The cities are Cagayan de Oro, Batangas and Iloilo City.

The forum will be keynoted by Senate President Franklin Drilon and is expected to attract big businesses to go to Iloilo to become part of the development of a booming city in the south. (Sunnex)
