THE Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) on Tuesday issued wrong photos of two victims who were abducted by still unidentified armed group inside the Holiday Ocean View Resort in Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos) late Monday evening.
Captain Alberto Caber, public information officer (PIO) of EastMinCom, released wrong identification pictures of the Robert Hall and Marithes Flor to several new organizations including the print, television, and online media organizations.
Chief Insp. Milgrace Cajes Driz, spokesperson for the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said that the photos used by Eastmincom are from Intelligence Office of the DCPO.
"Pina-verify yung mga maling photos and nagpadala kami nung tamang mga litrato. Yung mga litratong nagamit ay hindi yung totoong itsura ng dalawang biktima ng kidnapping," Driz told Sun.Star Davao in an interview at her office Wednesday afternoon.
Driz said they already furnished the correct photos of the victims to the different news organizations.
"Gusto namin ipa-erratum yung tamang photos, especially sa mga news organizations na nakapag-publish doon sa mga hindi totoo," she added.
Driz said that waited for the permission of the DCPO police director Vicente D. Danao Jr. before they furnished the correct photos to the media Wednesday afternoon.
Caber, for his part, told Sun.Star Davao in a separate statement that he did not made it in purpose and was sorry for the misunderstanding that it brought.
