LOCAL business players and web developers are encouraged to avail themselves of the crash course on electronic commerce (e-commerce) in September or October this year in a bid to support online trading in the city.

Davao Inventors Association (DIA) vice president for ICT industry Nestor Dignadice, speaking in Monday's edition of Davao Press Club's Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao Annex, said businesses can maximize their full potential if they strengthen their presence on the web.

Dignadice said, in a separate phone interview with Sun.Star Davao, that the program will be conducted in collaboration with ICT Davao Inc. The executive represents the inventors' group in the ICT council.

"We will be inviting web developers and local businesses in Davao and the whole of Mindanao to attend the event," he said.

Dignadice said the crash course will be a stay-in seminar for 30 to 50 individuals. They will be inviting experts and lecturers from outside Davao to share their expertise to the budding online players.

Certificates will be given to those who will complete the crash course.

"E-commerce is the future of many businesses. If your website does not have an e-commerce feature, then it will just be like a magazine," he said.
