Ex-TRC chief links Candaba mayor to pork barrel scam

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Former Technology Resource Center (TRC) chief Dennis Cunanan has "linked" Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque to the "pork barrel" or Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.

In his affidavit, Cunanan stated that former Department of Transportation and Communication Assistant Secretary and the now mayor allegedly escorted Janet Lim-Napoles in his office sometime 2006 and 2007.

In the documents obtained by Sun.Star Pampanga, Cunanan added that Napoles presented herself as a representative of some congressmen and Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Ramon Revilla, Jr. and Juan Ponce Enrile.

The Commission on Audit (COA), in its investigation, said that several lawmakers allocated their PDAF in the TRC, which will be transferred to non-government organizations (NGOs).

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima earlier said Cunanan "confessed" in his affidavit that some other 23 solons also put their PDAF at the TRC for their preferred NGOs identified with Napoles.

Meanwhile, the National Bureau of Investigation is still looking for evidence reportedly to support the complaints against Pampanga Second District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Janet Lim-Napoles and 20 others including Maglanque concerning the P900 million Malampaya fund scam.

Last year, Cunanan offered himself as a state witness long before Ruby Tuason decided to testify against Estrada and Jessica "Gigi" Reyes.

Cunanan has insisted that "he did not get any single centavo as commission" from Napoles.
