Capitol receives P.9-M deposit for Cyber Center space rental

GOVERNOR Alfredo Marañon Jr. revealed on Sunday that Ubiquity Global Services has already deposited P900,000 for space rental at the Negros First Cyber Center.

Ubiquity Global Services, a business process outsourcing organization, is the first locator to have signed a contract of lease with the provincial government for a 1,200 square meters of space.

Marañon said that more BPO firms have already signified interest of leasing space at the cyber center.

Matthew Nyren, president of Ubiquity Global Services, earlier revealed that their company will put in not less than $1 million during its first year in the province.

Ubiquity plans to hire more than 200 employees in Bacolod over the next 90 days and will continue its operational expansion throughout 2014.

Marañon said the bidding for commercial spaces at the Cyber Center is set next week.

There are 102 commercial spaces available at the ground floor.

The governor said banks like the Land Bank of the Philippines and the Philippine National Bank are also leasing space.

The governor assured the Negrenses of the completion of the Cyber Center before June this year.

The Cyber Center, worth P630 million, would be able to pay for itself in eight to nine years, Marañon said.

The Provincial Government took a loan of P450 million from the Development Bank of the Philippines for the first phase of the Cyber Center.

The second phase, which costs P180 million, includes a P157.5-million from the Land Bank of the Philippines and a P22.5 million sourced out from the unrestricted funds under the general fund.
