Olsim gang leaders nabbed

NOTORIOUS drug leaders Efren Olsim together with James Barthon Gatawa were recently nabbed by the joint elements of the Police Regional Office–Cordillera, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Special Enforcement Service, and operatives of the Buguias municipal police station.

Olsim alias Molkang, a wanted drug personality in the Cordillera Region was recently arrested in Loo, Buguias, through a warrant of arrest against him by agents PDEA and operatives of the local police.

A urine sample taken from Olsim gave positive test result for the presence of the dangerous drug, methamphetamine, a psychostimulant of the phenethylamine and amphetamine class of psychoactive drugs like shabu. Thus, he will be facing rap anew for Use of Dangerous Drugs.

Olsim's younger brother, Julim, is the leader of the Olsim drug group who earlier fell to the arms of the law November 21 last year, paving the way to neutralize the group.

The drug group, mostly composed of the Olsim clan, supplies students, and truck drivers and vegetable porters; and works in coordination "Mandu" gang, a group of pickpockets and shoplifters.

Funds from the operation f both gangs are suspected to funds both the operations of the two groups.

Last week, another Olsim gang member, Gatawa, was also arrested in Bad-ayan, also in Buguias town.

Gatawa, originally from Bad-ayan, Buguias is in the target list of drug personalities in the Region and a member.

Authorities declared with the capture Gatawa and 60 percent of its members, the Olsim drug group is now deemed neutralized.

Gatawa tested positive Methamphetamine giving was for the criminal case against him.

Gatawa has evaded arrest during earlier raids at a liquor bar and apartment unit in La Trinidad which is suspected to be maintained by his group as drug dens and gambling lairs, in a synchronized implementation of multiple search warrants for various, grave violations of the drug law.

Anti-drug operations have been subsequent since November 2013 resulting to the capture members of both groups.
