Valley links with Laemrung

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -– La Trinidad recently forged sisterhood ties with Laemrung, Phichit, Thailand and will eventually introduce changes in agriculture, tourism and education in both municipalities.

La Trinidad Mayor Edna Tabanda, in an interview Tuesday said officials of the municipality met with Phichit vice governor Wachara Tippilar, Laemrung mayor Phongsakon Khongcharoen and other Thai officials and discussed a three pronged approach in strengthening their relationships.

Tabanda said the officials from both municipalities agreed to further strengthen the Teacher Student Exchange Program, enter into exchanges in culture and tourism and agricultural technology transfer.

As this progress, the Thai officials indicated to continuously hire English Language teachers to teach in Thailand and send Thai teachers to La Trinidad, Benguet to teach interested parties about Thailand, its language, culture, tradition and cuisine.
Both agreed to support each other’s products as far as agriculture is concerned.

Phichit, Thailand is known for its sweet pomelos, tamarind and hand woven products while La Trinidad boasts the Strawberry products and bi-products and Arabica Coffee.

In tourism, both agreed to further the business through regular visits. (Jojo Lamaria)
