Central Luzon showcased to AP diplomats

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Foreign Affairs on Saturday showcased to Manila-based ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps of Asia-Pacific countries the cultural and economic experiences Central Luzon has to offer, courtesy of the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs and government and industry partners in Central Luzon.

The tour offered the diplomats an inside look into the operations of some of the world–class facilities in the Clark Freeport Zone, such as, the Clark International Airport, and Medical City Clark facility in the Global Gateway Logistics City, the country's first aerotropolis.

Participants were also treated to a tour of the renowned Betis Crafts Factory in Guagua, famous Pampanga delicacies at the Holiday Inn, and traditional Filipino dances at the Nayong Filipino.

Central Luzon, once devastated by the 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption, has literally risen from the ashes to become a dynamic and internationally competitive destination for tourism and investment.

It is an example of Filipino perseverance and resolve which will again carry Filipinos through as the nation recovers from the devastation caused by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in November 2013.

The event is an initiative of the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs, together with invaluable assistance of Bases Conversion Development Authority, Clark Development Corporation, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Clark International Airport Corporation, Local Government of Angeles City, Subic-Clark Alliance for Development, the Global Gateway Logistics City, the Central Luzon regional offices of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Tourism (DOT), and Nayong Filipino at Clark Expo.
