Ready, get set… SHOP!

NAGBABAGANG balita: May riot sa siyudad ng Davao sa mga susunod na araw…

(News flash: There will be a riot in Davao City in the coming days)… and the city will welcome it with open arms.

An uprising of shopaholics armed with credit cards (and cash) will be storming the city from all over the country and take part in the Davao Big Fun Sale. This will be a first of its kind in the Philippines.

For four weeks, Davao will be the must-go to shopping destination as seven of the country’s largest retail giants, major airlines and the hospitality industry join hands with the Department of Tourism, City Government of Davao and the Philippine Retailer’s Association to make the Davao Big Fun Sale the biggest sale event in the region, if not the country.

Abreeza Mall, Gaisano Mall of Davao, GMall of Toril, NCCC Mall, Robinsons and SM Davao and SM Lanang Premier and its retailers will be offering fantastic deals like discounts up to 80% off, freebies, unique activities and prizes!

If you’re itching to get your hands on that dream wardrobe, smartphone or laptop, this may be the perfect time to own it! Covering four weeks, the themed sale events will kick off with a General mall wide sale on March 14 – 16 and a month-long sale (March 14 - April 16) on Dining, Crafts, Fruits and Flowers. It will follow through with the Health and Beauty Sale on March 16 – 23, Electronics and Gadgets Sale on March 24 to 30, Home and Travel Sale on March 31 - April 6, and finally the Active Lifestyle/Fashion Sale on April 7 to 16.

A plane ride away? Hop on the next flight to Davao! The ride won’t take much from your shopping budget as the event’s airline partners—Silk Air, Cebu Pacific Air—will offer low cost fares and put a good number of seats on sale. And, don’t worry about the place to stay, the hotels –even most stylish and chic—will be offering everyone the best jaw-dropping deals so you can truly relax and enjoy your much-deserved shopping trip in Davao.

The fun doesn’t end with the shopping bag on hand. Restaurants all over town will make sure you have your fill of more than what you expect. There will be a hundred food joints offering irresistible fares and deals around the city to leave your husband, partner or foodie of a friend. They can dine like kings while you take your time scouring the malls for more fabulous finds at a discount.

How about bagging a P 100,000 in cash as well? It will be BDFS’ way of showing gratitude for coming to Davao and having fun. All you have to do is to secure a “Passport” at the airport (upon your arrival) or any of the participating malls, shop (at least P 500) from each of the mall and have your passport stamped at the redemption/information center after each purchase. Remember, a completed passport has to bear the stamps of all the 7 participating malls. Exchanged your completed passport to a raffle ticket and get a chance to take win any of these: P100,000 in cash for the Grand Prize; a Weekend Getaway for 2 (inclusive of domestic plane fare, inland transfers, hotel accommodations for 3 days and 2 nights, and P20,000 pocket money) for the Second Prize; 5 lucky shoppers will take home an iPhone5 as third prize winners; 10 winners will enjoy the 4th prize of Gift Certificates worth P4,000 each; and as consolation prizes, 15 winners will own new cellular phones.

So pack your bags (lightly please, you’ll be needing lots of space for your new stuff to take home) and get yourself to Davao. Let this Southern City show everyone what shopping is all about and how the Durian City will add the oomph to the It’s More Fun in the Philippines shout-out.

“We are fortunate that as result of this project, the retail industry in Davao has formally organized itself. And for its first venture, collaborating with the tourism industry,“ shared DOT Asec. Arturo Boncato, Jr.

The BIG FUN starts on March 14. Are you ready to shop?

The Big Davao Fun Sale is also supported by TV5, Mabuhay Taxi and BPI.
