P100,000 reward up for each missing cocaine brick

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte offered P100,000 cash reward to anyone who could give information as to who can give the 13 missing cocaine bricks to anti-narcotics operatives.

“I am offering P100,000 kung kinsa tung mga kauban nila nga nakabalo ani. Total wala naman nagamit tung kang Baktin (Yu), diri na lang nato ihatag sa kung kinsa makatudlo,” Duterte said on Monday.

Duterte was referring to the 13 missing bricks of cocaine that authorities have been looking after the recovery of 51 bricks over the weekend.

Duterte said he believes that the suspected cocaine bricks are not for anyone in Davao City.

“We do not think it is intended for Davao City. These are expensive. Ginagamit ito ng mga adik na milyonaryo,” Duterte said, adding that it might be shipped to Hong Kong, China or Japan.

Duterte arrived at the Sumifru Wharf in Tibungco around 9:30 p.m. Saturday to check on the seized container van. He then directed the authorities to hold the employees of the Sumifru for interrogation, as they suspected that there can be as many as 65 bricks hidden in the van. Only 24 were found on Saturday, while 27 others were recovered on Sunday.

Duterte said he suspected that there are more container vans being used to ship illegal drugs, but this will be difficult to trace since container vans arrive by the thousands.

As of now, the mayor said the authorities cannot tell that the Bureau of Customs nor the Maersk company has any liability with the illegal activity.

“I am always alarmed by the quality and quantity of drugs coming into the city. It’s always a cause of alarm here,” he said.

Duterte is known for his stance against criminals, especially those who are in connection with illegal drugs.
