Cudia asks PMA for diploma

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Dismissed Cadet Aldrin Jeff Cudia has asked the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) to release his diploma.

Cudia filed a petition before the High Tribunal asking the PMA to give his diploma and get an honorable dismissal from the academy.

Renato Cudia, the cadet's father, said that Jeff Aldrin is no longer interested in pursuing his military career.

"Ang layunin po ng aming pagsasampa ay upang malinis ang aming pangalan, makuha ang diploma upang makapagpatuloy sa pag-aaral ang aming anak," Cudia told ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda.

On behalf of Cudia, Public Attorney’s Office chief Persida Acosta filed the petition before the Supreme Court Tuesday.

Cudia is on indefinite leave after leaving the PMA hours after the commencement exercises last March 16, Sunday, of the Siklab-Diwa Class 2014.

President Benigno Aquino III was the guest of honor and speaker during the graduation.

The night before the graduation rites, Aquino talked to Cudia and his family at The Mansion wherein Cudia agreed not to join the march.

President Aquino also asked the dismissed cadet to file a new appeal before the AFP chief of staff.

AFP chief Emmanuel Bautista was ordered by the President to handle the new appeal of Cudia after he was found violating the Honor Code.

Meanwhile, Acosta said the PMA Honor Committee did not accord "due process" in dismissing the cadet and insisted that the decision was "rigged."
