Serna: ‘Innamorata’ cast wows fans

CONGRATULATIONS to all the graduates who will receive (and must have already received) their hard-earned diplomas. Hard-earned because they shed blood, sweat and tears to achieve their goals, as well as their parents’ wishes.

I hope you’ll be able to land in good-paying jobs or engage in your own business ventures to further reach those dreams you had envisioned a number of years back.

Again, congratulations and more power!

Congratulations to Miss Cebu 2009 Kris Tiffany Janson for winning the best in national costume special award in the ongoing Bb. Pilipinas 2014 beauty competition.

The gown she wore was a creation of well-known Cebu fashion designer Cary Santiago. Kris is said to be among the front-runners. Coronation night will be on Sunday, March 30, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Hopefully, she’ll be able to bring home one of the five (or is it still four?) crowns at stake for the hopefuls who will be tasked to represent the country in international competitions.

Some supporters and beauty enthusiasts from Cebu will be rooting for Kris. For us who cannot be at the venue, let’s support Kris through our prayers.

Good luck, Kris!

Last weekend, the lead stars of GMA 7’s afternoon soap Innamorata breezed into town for the said television series’ regional promotional tour.

The visiting stars were Max Collins, Luis Alandy and Dion Ignacio. They met their supporters during the Kapuso Mall Show at the Gaisano Grand Fiesta Mall Tabunok. The show was mounted by GMA Regional TV in coordination with the Network’s Central and Eastern Visayas station and was hosted by “Mother Butanding” Yorie Storm Deldig.

The stars were in Baguio during the Panagbenga Festival and to Davao during the Araw ng Dabaw for the same purpose.

Innamorata first invaded television screens since Feb. 17 right after Villa Quintana.

Max admitted getting not enough sleep as before as she feels the pressure of giving her best foot forward and for the soap to maintain its high rating.

Luis feels lucky that at 34, he gets paired with younger stars and actresses. I asked him if his crew cut hairstyle and camouflage
printed blazer were in keeping with his role in the soap.

He answered matter-of-factly that he “wants to look younger.” When I told him that he still looks young, he quipped “younger” and then smiled. Luis is one of the best actors of his generation.

Dion looked more physically fit this time than the last time he visited Cebu. He revealed that jogging, playing basketball and doing some martial arts keep him agile and lean.

Dion is also into music, playing guitar with his group Philia. Although he’s enjoying his role in Innamorata, he dreams of getting
an action role or one that will highlight his musical talent as a band member.

Standing at a little over six feet, Dion has a ready smile on his face when answering questions.

Psalmstre Enterprises president and chief executive officer Jim Acosta sent a text message more than a week ago informing me that the endorsers of his company’s beauty products, Miss Earth-Air 2012 Stephany Stefanowitz and Mr. Manhunt International 2012 June Macasaet, will be participating in the Panaad Festival onboard a float in Bacolod City on Apr. 4.

Psalmstre had been invited to participate in other festivals in the country such as Sinulog, Panagbenga, Dinagyang and Ati-atihan, among others. Jim said that the festival organizers’ support to his company made him approve of the invitation immediately.

Stephany (and probably June too, if he can catch up) will also sit as judge of the Ms. Panaad Festival held the night before the parade.

The two will also visit radio stations and drug stores selling the products they’re endorsing.

Richard Yap, more popularly known as Sir Chief in the ABS-CBN noontime teleseries Be Careful With My Heart, was recently launched as the latest endorser of a Hong Kong-based clothing retailer.

Being middle-aged and on his being tapped as an apparel model, Richard has this to say: “Old is the new trend and age is just a number.”

Dare argue with the so-called reluctant matinee idol?
