Negros tourism officers, stakeholders attend seminar on Filipino brand of service

SELECTED tourism officers and stakeholders from Negros Occidental recently attended a seminar on how to develop the “Filipino Brand of Service” to improve the tourism potentials of the country.

The Department of Tourism, in partnership with the local government units in Western Visayas, is undertaking the development of “Filipino Brand of Service” to be at par with the international standard of service.

This brand of service, which represents the rich Philippine culture and the Filipino quality values, is envisioned to represent everything that is good and positive about Filipino hospitality which can be used by all tourism stakeholders in dealing with domestic and international tourists.

The first consultation was conducted in Iloilo City last December 10 and 11, while the workshop was finished last March 24 and 25 at the Mambukal Resort in Murcia.

The Negros Occidental delegation was composed of Western Visayas Tourism Council president John Orola, provincial tourism officer Cristine Mansinares, Tourism Educators and Movers-Western Visayas president Gina Montes, La Consolacion College-Bacolod Tourism Program Head Sheryl Pacheco, Silay Tourism officers Ver Pacete and Gerle Sulmaca, Bago City tourism officers Rosseni Mina, Arlene Palco, and Barbara Sevilla, Tomiko Casiano of Vintage Glass Museum, Jojo Vito of the Association of Negros Producers, Butch Gerasmo of Bacolod City, Windy Dawn Monge of John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation, Rose Jean Contrevida of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Joy Famini of Victorias City, and provincial tourism staff Mae Ann Boko.

The output of the workshop for Western Visayas will be cascaded to the tourism frontline service providers covering standard oral and gestural expressions for guests at the arrival, accommodation, dining, shopping and entertainment, transportation, and departure areas.
