I WAS invited by my high school and first year college classmate Dr. Hannah Karina Sevilla-Adaya to a place near our home in Matina for an evening of food and music.
Dubbed as Acoustic Night Life, the weekly event held every Wednesdays is held at Destiny’s Church inside KM3 Business Center along McArthur Highway just near Tulip Drive a walking distance from our house.
Acoustic Night Life can be described as a buffet dinner and music with guest mainstream band performers along with the Destiny Church Band. It is not a worship service but rather just a night to dine and chill, enjoying great music.
According to Hannah, who now works as an anesthesiologist at SPMC, the Acoustic Nightlife now is on its 2nd year having started last May 2013 by Destiny Market Place Radicals.
The Market Place Radicals is a group of young professionals in the medical field, education, business, government, arts and entertainment who wanted to excel and make a difference in the community.
And Acoustic Night Life is one of the group’s main project. More than just music and food, during intermission numbers Destiny’s pastor Dean Malinao shares relevant Lessons Insights for Everyone (Life).
She said the evening activity is a way of trying to inspire, equip and train young professionals and businessmen to tread on their vision of promotion into new levels. It also showcases their values, passion for God, Passion for people and excellence.
The Destiny church was filled by many people of whom are not church members but like me, came to experience and enjoy the place. Aside from the sumptuous dishes, non-alcoholic versions of popular cocktails were also served, it was one enjoyable wholesome event.
I also got the chance to meet former grade school classmates Grace Migrino and Khristelle Amurao-Malinao who is the wife of LIFE sharer Dean.
The music was provided by the Ayag Family (Teddy, Jocelyn, Joanna and Ken) mostly mainstream and Top 40 hits.
If you want an alternative place to hang-out during Wednesday nights, check out Acoustic Night Life, it doesn’t matter if you’re not a member of Destiny church, the event is open to young people regardless of religious denomination.
Special thanks to Market Place Radicals led by Dr. Grace Migrino, Dean and Khristelle Malinao, Hannah Sevilla-Adayao and Acoustic Night Life heads Pastor Marlen Valencia and Pastor Joki Valencia and to the Senior Pastors of Destiny Davao Pastors Roy Oliveros and Rochel Oliveros.
