LOOKING at the paintings on exhibit at “Palangga,” you will feel the positive energy flowing through your body. You will bring that feeling when you go home.
“Palangga,” a Hiligaynon term for love, is the title of the exhibit of more than 30 artworks which include paintings, drawings, and wood sculptures.
All the artworks portray love—love of a mother for her child, love for nature, love for animals.
The five artists, namely Pastor Arthur Bayles and his wife Miriam Bayles, Nunistell Mae Fulo-Lee, Jojo Vito, and Ernie Mallorca, choose to lift up the brighter side of humanity and show how is it to feel the love, to be in love, and to be loved.
Because of Jojo Vito’s numerous collections depicting the love of mother and child, he decided to put up an exhibit which speaks for it.
“Palangga” art exhibit is a must-see for it highlights positive emotions - how we love our parents, the people surrounding us, and being thankful for the unconditional love that God has given us.
When I asked Pastor Art Bayles his reason for painting this kind of art, he said it is his way of reflecting the goodness of God in creative ways as a minister of Gospel.
For him, painting must become an avenue for people to see the positive values of things around us.
“Palangga’ art exhibit not only gives us artworks to be appreciated but it also reminds us that far from the bad happenings in our life, we must be reminded of how blessed we are for we are truly loved and could feel the greatness of how to be loved.
Unveiled last March 25 at the Jojo Vito Designs Gallery at Metrodome Center along Araneta St., “Palangga” will run until April 12.
Special guests at the opening were Bacolod first lady Josefa Puentevalla, Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, former congressman Atty. John Orola, and provincial tourism officer Cristine Mansinares.*
