SMART Communications, Inc. (Smart) said it is more than ready to provide the whole suite of Long-Term Evolution (LTE) services to prospective buyers of the newly-launched Samsung Galaxy S5.
Unveiled recently during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Samsung’s latest flagship mobile device features a 5.1-inch 1080p AMOLED display, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip and a 16-megapixel rear camera.
Samsung also updated the look and feel of the Galaxy S5’s chassis and software as it sports a dimpled rear cover and a refreshed look for its TouchWiz user interface. It will be available in black and white colors.
“With a high-definition display, powerful mobile processor and the latest Android KitKat mobile operating system, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is poised to become one of the best mobile multimedia powerhouses that can best be enjoyed with a reliable LTE service that only Smart can deliver,” said Kathryn Carag, postpaid marketing head at Smart.
Smart said it offers the widest range of LTE-capable mobile handsets in the market today, ending 2013 with a smartphone portfolio that included the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 bundled with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
“Smart has already anticipated the deluge of LTE-capable smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S5, which is why we have primed our network to meet the skyrocketing demand for mobile data of our subscribers,” said Rolando G. Peña, technology group head at PLDT and Smart.
Pena said that with 78,000 kilometers of fiber-optic cables running across the country and acting as a backbone for its base stations, Smart has enough capacity to handle all kinds of multimedia content that will be running through its pipes.
These already include data that will be generated by the Samsung Galaxy S5’s newer sensors such as the fingerprint scanner and the heart rate monitor. (PR)
