Puentevella to approve permit of Metro Safari Resort

BACOLOD City Mayor Monico Puentevella said he will approve the permit of Metro Safari Resort in Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City once it complies with all the requirements.

Puentevella said the resort aims to attract more tourists for the city, adding that the city needs projects like this.

“I will approve their permit so we can promote Alangilan, a far-flung barangay as a tourism attraction,” the mayor said.

Earlier, a complaint was filed by Alangilan councilmen Donard Alimpolo, Alex Sausi and Roy Retiza before the City Prosecutor’s Office against Metro Safari Resort owner Francis Rey Cabuga and four others for the construction of facilities in the resort without a business permit and without an approved order of conversion from the Department of Agrarian Reform.

The City Council had also ordered Cabuga to comply with the requisites of the law before proceeding with their construction activities in the area.

Cabuga had written former Alangilan village chief Degie Tanista in June 11, 2013 informing that he plans to put up a resort with a zoo, clubhouse, swimming pool, camping site, playground, rentable cottages and picnic huts as he wants to contribute to the tourism industry of Bacolod.

He said he also wants to be an instrument to the education of children, as well as, adults in the appreciation of zoo animals and help foster the creation of more jobs and meaningful employment for the local community of Barangay Alangilan. (CNC)
