THE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’s annual preventive maintenance Friday led to a 10-hour power interruption, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., in parts of Baguio City and Benguet province.
According to the Benguet Electric Cooperative some 35,566 consumers in the Summer Capital and Benguet towns of Itogon and Tuba were affected by the power interruption.
The power utility, meanwhile, took advantage of the power interruption to fix their power lines and other maintenance activities.
On March 19, a similar power interruption affected 163,725 electricity consumers in affected parts of the city including the Central Business District and the towns of La Trinidad, Sablan and Tuba due to the annual preventive maintenance of 75MVA power transformer and associated equipment at La Trinidad Substation and simultaneous with line maintenance along La Trinidad – MOPRECO and La Trinidad - Calot 69kV lines.

NGCP public affairs officer Lilibeth Gaydowen said the power interruption was part of the Annual Preventive Maintenance of 75MVA Power Transformer No. 2 and its associated equipment at their La Trinidad Substation.
Aside from the La Trinidad Substation, NGCP will also conducting its line maintenance along the La Trinidad – Lamut and La Trinidad – Itogon/Philex 69kV lines.
