EMPLOYMENT prospects are bright for new graduates this year.
The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) announced hundreds of job vacancies await those who come prepared for the agency’s annual Labor Day Jobs Fair on May 1.
Dole Regional Director Henry John Jalbuena said the jobs fair will be held at the Baguio Convention Center and SM City Baguio.
The activity, in partnership with the city’s Public Employment Services Office (Peso), will host at least 54 companies, 39 of them local and 15 for overseas employment.
According to Jalbuena, job opportunities available locally are for professionals, managers, supervisors, customer service representatives, call center agents, sales clerks and office clerks.
Job openings are also available for accountants, account managers, computer technicians, data encoders, cooks, technical and support staff, teachers, bank tellers, cashiers, service crew, advertising and promotion representatives.
For overseas employment, jobs available are for professionals, engineers, administrative assistants, cooks, waiters and waitresses, construction workers, plumbers, and factory workers.
Participating companies in the job fairs include local businesses, educational institutions, business processing and outsourcing firms, manufacturing firms, small-medium enterprises, fastfood chains and mall retailers, among others.
The jobs fair at the Baguio Convention Center will include a One Stop Shop Government Service Clinic participated by the Baguio City Police Office, Pag-ibig, Philhealth, National Statistics Office, Social Security System, Civil Service Commission, Professional Regulatory Commission, Commission on Higher Education, City Treasurer’s Office and the National Bureau Investigation.
A wellness services clinic offering free massage and haircut will be spearheaded by Technical Skills and Development Authority while a livelihood fair will be conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry at the Baguio Convention Center parking area.
The livelihood fair will showcase the products of DOLE-CAR livelihood projects around the region.
The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, meanwhile, will provide free international calls to family and relatives of overseas Filipino workers.
