Police seize 2 slot machines

THE police have confiscated two slot machines in its continued campaign against illegal gambling in this city, the police reported Friday.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) reported that one of the two slot machines locally known as “kabalyo-kabalyo” was confiscated around 3:35 p.m. Thursday along Magay Street, this city.

The other one was confiscated around 5:30 p.m. in the village of Putik east of this city, the police said.

The two slot machines were taken to the Anti-vice Office for proper disposition.

The local police have intensified its campaign against illegal gambling particularly slot machines following the proliferation of such kind of gambling gadgets in this city.

The slot machines are being left by its owners or operators in sari-sari stores in the different villages.

The sari-sari store owners are given percentage share by the slot machine operators representing payment of space rental.

Earlier this month the local police have destroyed more than 70 slot machines in full public view in front of City Hall.

ZCPO chief Senior Superintendent Angelito Casimiro said they have so far filed charges against two people who were believed to be operators of the slot machines. (Bong Garcia)
