Like the past Earth Day celebrations, Earth Day 2014 will focus on the unique environmental challenges of our time.

In Bacolod, SM City is holding an Eco-Fair Exhibit at the mall's East Bridgeway from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Waste Market Fair at the Transport Hub from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Earth Jam at the Transport Hub at 5 p.m.
Silay City also joins the world in the celebration of Earth Day today in cooperation with IKAW-AKO Japan-Negros Partnership for Environmental Protection with the Hiligaynon theme, “Adlaw sang Kalibutan: Adlaw-adlaw, Bisan Diin, kag Para Kay Sin-o Lang."
There will be mangrove seedling planting and coastal clean-up in Barangay Balaring.
The event will be participated by Silay City government employees and officials lead by Mayor Jose Montelibano. Groups of environmentalists and student volunteers will also join with the members of Balaring Mangrove Planters’ Association as facilitators.
Tourism officer Ver Pacete said that this event becomes also a tourism project because participants will be accommodated in a kilometer-long bamboo bridge under the mangrove canopy before reaching the planting site.
Independent farmers and IKAW-AKO volunteers will also facilitate the same activities in Sitio Bungol, Sitio Dapdap, Sitio Hiyang-hiyang, Sitio Lantawan and Barangay Patag.
Elsewhere in the Philippines, the Haribon Foundation will conduct an interactive session and film-showing on Philippine forests and biodiversity. Haribon’s Outdoor Playschool will encourage kids to love nature and the outdoors. Through the outdoor playschool, kids will discover amazing and important facts about our environment through touch, sight and sound.
At the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Earth Day Network Philippines will stage its first-ever fun run, Pro-Earth Run 2014, an advocacy campaign to encourage people to Protect, Respect, and Oversee (PRO) the sensible and sustainable care for Mother Earth.
In Cebu, the Tropang Guardians International, a socio-civic organization, will conduct coastal clean-up along two beaches in Talisay City. (with reports from www.earthday.org)
