Capitol holds 3rd Health Summit

BACOLOR -- The Provincial Government headed by Governor Lilia Pineda on Thursday held the 3rd Pampanga Health Summit themed “Pampanga: Racing Towards Achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)” at the King’s Royale Hotel and Resort here.

Department of Health Regional Director Leonita Gorgolon; Philhealth Social Insurance Services Manager Elizabeth Capuli; Provincial Health Officer Marcelo Jaochico; Dr. Andrei Villanueva, chief of Innovations and Multi-sectoral Partnership to Achieve Control of Tuberculosis (Impact) Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque; Sasmuan Mayor Nardo Velasco; Masantol Mayor Dan Guinto; Arayat Mayor Emmanuel Alejandrino; their respective municipal health officers and staff attended the summit.

Oriental Mindoro Alfonso Umali, Jr., president of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) also graced the summit.

Umali at the same time formally launched the LPP initiated "Ligtas na Pamilyang Pilipino Laban sa TB."

"This is LPP advocacy program against tuberculosis," Umali said.

For her part, Governor Pineda set the direction and discussed the priority health programs of Pampanga for the attainment of MDGs.

She pointed out that the Provincial Government is providing 60 percent of the yearly budget for health program.
