Flazo is like a tiny brazo de mercedes, a rolled cake made from a sheet of soft meringue with custard filling.
It is available in three flavors-- original custard, chocolate and pandan -- and is available in two different sizes which are bite size and cupcake size.
Customers can choose a box of assorted flavors of a box of original custard flavor.
A box of Flazo with 15 pieces costs P200, while a box with 30 pieces is P370.
The eight-month-old Flazo is created by educator and media practitioner Joey Sy-Domingo.
According to Domingo, her business started in September 2013 when she decided to serve brazo de mercedes, her daughter?s favorite, in a party.
Her colleagues liked the taste and suggested if she could make some more. It started her to innovate by putting flavors, the birth of Flazo.
Domingo said baking is her hobby. Aside from that, her purpose of baking was to make her daughter happy.
Flazo is a pastry made with love. During the process of baking it, everything is monitored and handled with care: from the mixing of the exact amount of ingredients, piping the meringue onto the cups, waiting for it to be well cooked in the oven up to the last process which is to fill it with flavors.
Even placing the Flazos in the box is a difficult thing to do and requires patience. Domingo said she never regretted trying something out from her daughter’s favorite.
Since its birth, Flazo gets positive feedback from its buyers, ordering boxes of it as gifts for their loved ones.
More orders were made when she created a Facebook account of Flazo and netizens started to get curious about it.
Sy-Domingo said what she loves most about Flazo is that she would never force herself to bake when she does not feel like doing it. She believes that it might affect the taste of her pastry. She sees baking not as a tiring thing to do but another chance to make other people happy.
