Talikud's hidden beauty

MESMERIZED about how the beach can silence my thoughts and relax my body, I'll definitely not turn my back in one of Talikud Island's treasures - La Isla Bonita Beach Resort.

Talikud Island, around 15 kilometers and one-hour away from Davao City via motor boat, is 2,600 hectares of pristine blue waters and white sand beaches.

Some 250 hectares are protected coral and fish sanctuaries. It is an island located behind Samal and most of the island is still unexplored and undiscovered.

Owned and developed by Punta del Sol Group of Companies, La Isla Bonita Beach Resort is a 160- meter of white sand beach and clear turquoise waters.

Being one of the destinations of the "Talikud Island Inland Tours" which can be availed for as low as P350 per person, the beach resort will definitely make you want to stay for good.

"Some of the visitors who availed the package tour would want to stay only in La Isla Bonita, so we usually make the resort as in the latter part of the tour so they can still visit other tourism sites which is also equally attractive and interesting with tourism potential," Araceli L. Ayuste of Punta del Sol Group of Companies and president of Samal Tourism Council shared when we arrived at the resort around lunch.

"Recognizing the island's potentials, I really invested in developing this island to take our part in making Talikud as a major tourism destination in the south, through the package tour Talikud's hidden rich tourism sites will gradually rang a bell in tourism industry and now it is already making some noise," she added.

La Isla Bonita, is a real escapade from the hustle and bustle of the city with its picturesque and panoramic view that will surely give a calming and soothing kind of feeling to anyone.

One can entirely disconnect from the busy city since the resort has a limited access to signal waves. (Though as I strongly recommend that aside from road access going to La Isla Bonita is highly needed, improving the network's signal would make the place a better tourism destination) But it is fine for me as with no signal means better connection with nature which we usually disconnect.

The resort has more than to offer aside from the white sand and clear water, and it is, of course, the food.

We were served with island delicacies like coconut crabs, grilled native chicken, bangus, kinilaw, buko juice, among others.

For those who would want to stay overnight, the resort has a cottage that can accommodate a maximum of 8 persons. At present, the company still expanding the resort to extend and improve its accommodation services.

Talikud Island Tour Package also includes Rock Shelter and Faith Healer's Camp, Giant Balete Tree, Talikud Island Mangrove Sanctuary, Dadatan Bat Conservation Park, Baga Cave, and Dadatan Bat Conservation Park. (ASP)
