Group to hold charity run for environment

THE Cebu Climate Change Association Inc. (CCCAI) will hold the Dagan Para sa Kalikupan-- all set on June 1 at Parkmall, Mandaue City.

CCCAI president Allan Dinampo said parts of the proceeds of the run will be used to support the national greening project.

“We have the full support of the Environmental Management Bureau Region 7. In fact, the regional director of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will fire the gun in the run,” Dinampo told reporters yesterday during the final press conference for the event.

The CCCAI, a non-profit organization, has been active in tree and mangrove planting in Cebu. Their project in Barangay Manduwang, Minglanilla is just one of the testaments of the group’s advocacy on preserving the environment.

“We encourage running enthusiasts to participate in the event because this will have a parallel effect especially in our environment. This not only promotes good health, it is also about our environment since environment and our health come together,” he

added.

The run will have the 3K, 5K and 10K and will be handled by veteran race director Joel Juarez of Coco Running.

“For the runners who are interested to join, I encourage them to register early,” Juarez said.

Some 600 runners have joined the event, which aims to attract 800.

Registration is on-going at Runnr Store in Ayala and in the Parkmall Lobby.

Registration fee is P350 for the 3K, P400 for the 5K and P500 for the 10K.
