MOTORCYCLE-riding gunmen have killed a retired policeman in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Sunday.
The Zamboanga del Sur Police Office reported that the incident took place around 3:50 p.m. Saturday at the corners of Rizal Avenue and Ballesteros Street in the village of Balangasan, Pagadian City, the province’ capital.
The police identified the fatality as Quirino Zuasola, 66, a retired policeman and the resident of Balangasan village.
Investigation showed that Zuasola was sitting in a chair at his cousin’s shoe repair shop when suddenly the motorcycle-riding suspects stopped in front of the victim and shot him several times.
The victim was rushed to the Jamellarin Hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician, the police said.
Investigation continues to establish the motive of the incident as well as unmask the suspects, the police said. (Bong Garcia)
