TWO people died while six others were injured in separate vehicular accidents in Davao City, Sunday evening.

The first incident happened around 11 p.m. along a road connecting barangays Lubogan and Alambre in Toril, involving a Fuso truck with plate number LFL-374 driven by Reynaldo Bongato Buhawe, and a motorcycle with plate number 1544-LC driven by Amnel Pacatang Tesado.

Police identified the fatality as Tesado, while those injured were Vanessa Palicte, the motorcycle back-rider, and the truck driver Buhawe, who is now detained at the Toril Police Station after he was treated at the hospital.

Tesado's body was brought to Angel Funeral Parlor.

Initial investigation conducted by Police Officer 1 (PO1) Ronald Rival of Toril police showed that the truck was heading for barangay Alambre while the motorcycle was heading for Lubogan in the opposite lane. The truck swerved and hit the motorcycle.

The victims were brought to the St. John Hospital in Toril where Tesado was declared dead upon arrival by attending physicians.

The second incident happened around 11:20 p.m. along a road in barangay Mintal where the vehicles involved were a Skygo tricycle with plate number 2155-LV driven by Arjaynel Palma Dacayo, a Suzuki multicab with plate number MFY-353 driven by Peter Asion Sarita, and a Honda motorcycle with plate number 8897-AZ driven by Arnel Estacio Torres.

Dead on the spot was Torres, while injured were his back-riders identified as Michelle Montes, 17, and Atrian Mark Labian Carabio, 15, and drivers Dacayo and Sarita.

Initial investigation conducted by the Mintal police showed that it was the Honda motorcycle that encroached on the opposite lane and slammed the approaching two other vehicles.

Despite that, Dacayo and Sarita are now detained at the Mintal Police Station after they were treated at the hospital, while the body of Torres was brought to Angel Funeral Homes.
