Tagghap Tri stages 3rd Tabuelan 111 Tri

TAGGHAP Tri Club and the Municipality of Tabuelan are gearing up for the third staging of the Tabuelan 111 Triathlon on June 8 at the Maravilla Beach Resort.

Teams Parklane, Omega Pro, F18, Reborn, TTB, Equicredit and Repro Optima are among the squads who will be joining the event.

The full distance category will have the 2-kilometer swim, 88K bike, and 21K run.The race will also have the half-distance category.

This race will also serve as a preparation for the triathletes who will be joining the Cobra Ironman 70.3 in August.

“The town of Tabuelan has been known both nationally and internationally because of this major event. With the increasing number of triathletes, Tabuelan has become a landmark and Tabuelan 111 has become a favorite in Cebu. The registration for the 2014 Cobra IM70.3 in Cebu closed in just four hours and those who registered can capitalize their training and those who missed it, can still enjoy the feeling of doing IM 70.3 here in Tabuelan 111,” Tabuelan Mayor Rex Casiano Gerona said in a message posted at Tabuelan111.com.

Xterra pro Joseph Miller will also be back in serious action after being sidelined for a few weeks due to bruised ribs. He joined in Defy123 last May 25 and some local mountain bike competitions like the first Sugbo Seawall Side Bicycle Oval Race last weekend to test his recovery level.

“Tabuelan 111 will be part of my training. I can’t push and race hard because my ribs still hurt,” Miller told Sun.Star Cebu.

Meanwhile, Parklane’s Kristiane Lim, who finished second to Abet Biagan in the Bogo Triathlon last May 11, was supposed to race in the half-distance category but withdrew due to illness.

“I have a viral flu so I decided to skip the race. Only Ralph Arche, Anton Regis and Cianyl Gonzalez are joining for our team,” Lim said.

“I think Biagan and Elmo Clarabal will be one of the frontrunners in this race,” Lim shared.

In the women’s division, Omega Pro’s Lorhiz Echavez-Lopez and Parklane’s Gonzalez will be the front runners.

Sen. Pia Cayetano is also expected to join the event.
