Edge of Tomorrow, Fault in Our Stars at Gaisano cinemas

TOM Cruise sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrow and the romantic Fault in Our Stars will open tomorrow at the theaters of Gaisano Mall in Davao, Tagum and Toril.

Opening today is Pee Mak 2.

Edge of Tomorrow

Oscar-nominee Tom Cruise ("Mission: Impossible" films, "Collateral," "Jerry Maguire") and Emily Blunt ("The Devil Wears Prada," "The Adjustment Bureau") star in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' sci-fi thriller "Edge of Tomorrow," under the direction of Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith").

The epic action of "Edge of Tomorrow" unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop-forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again...and again.

But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

FAULT IN OUR STARS

Hazel and Gus are two extraordinary teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them -- and us - on an unforgettable journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous, given that they met and fell in love at a cancer support group. The Fault in Our Stars, based upon the number-one bestselling novel by John Green, explores the funny, thrilling and tragic business of being alive and in love.

PEE MAK 2

This is based on Thailand's most popular ghost story with a modern twist.

Ten friends pray at Mae Nak shrine for good luck on their school exams.

But, being complete idiots, they insult the shrine and find themselves pulled back in time to Mae Nak's day. They then attempt to assist in Mae Nak's giving birth, but of course botch things up.

Nak and her baby Dang appear to be just fine, and apparently alive. She tasks the boys with going to the battlefield to track down Mak and tell him the good news. But things get weird as they go home.
