THE 1-and-1 Marauders needed two five-minute extensions before taming Telstra Boomerangs for a 74-68 double overtime win at the start of the CSC-C E-Leagues Season X held at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym last Sunday.
Raymond Basanez scored the game high 21 points, including 11 on the second overtime to help the Marauders draw the first win of the season.
The Marauders had a fluid start, building a quick 14-4 lead at the opening quarter before it ballooned to a 28-15 buldge at the close of the first half.
Telstra began its climb in the second half, outscoring 1&1 17-9 in the third before Neil Librando tipped in the leather before the regulation buzzer sounded that sent the game to overtime with the score tied at 48-all.
The Boomerang proved to have enough juice to trade baskets with the Marauder and were on the verge of winning the game after leading 59-57.
However, Argiel Fernandez was fouled on his three-point attempt giving the 1&1 sniper three free throws without time left.
Fernandez then sank two-of-three pressure packed free throws that sent the game into one more overtime with the score tied at 59-all.
However, Telstra lost steam and Basanez took matters in his own hands as he scored 11 of 1&1’s 15 points to win the game.
Fernandez and Jan Isiah Gabest scored 15 points each for 1&1, while Ivan Figuera topscored for Telstra with 14 points.
