20,000 vacancies up for Kalayaan Job Fair

A TOTAL of 20,052 local and overseas job vacancies are made available for opportunity seekers in the upcoming 2014 Kalayaan Job Fair at the NCCC Mall Davao on June 12, 2014.

Department of Labor and Employment-Davao (Dole 11) regional director Joffrey M. Suyao, during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon at the Food Cove of NCCC Mall, said of the total job vacancies, 4,176 job vacancies are from 73 local companies and agencies while 15,856 jobs are from 30 overseas agencies as of Wednesday.

He said they are expecting some 3,000 applicants to attend, based on the trend in the number of applicants attending the previous job fairs, but added it may go up to 5,000 applicants.

The top occupations with the most vacancies are: call center agents, customer service representatives, service crew, office staff, administrative clerk, carpenter, market sales person, accounting assistant, insurance salesman, and non-formal education teacher.

A one-stop shop comprised of SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig, National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Foreign Affairs, National Statistics Office, Tesda, and members from the Regional Coordinating Council will also be put in place during the fair.

Prior to the Kalayaan job fair, there will be a Mini job fair and Philjobnet Online registration, which opened yesterday and will run until June 11, 2014 at the NCCC Mall.

"This will give applicants an opportunity to pre-register and skip the first three steps of the job fair process. So when they go to the job fair, they will go directly for the interview," Suyao said.

During the 2014 Labor Day Job Fair, Dole 11 recorded a total of 10,479 registered job applicants wherein 1,276 were hired on the spot. The fair was simultaneously held at Gaisano Mall of Davao and Tagum and SM City Davao.

There were a total of 29,816 job vacancies from 226 local and overseas agencies and companies that were made available during that fair.
