Man nabbed in drug bust sued

A MAN is facing charges before the court after he allegedly sold a suspected illegal drug to an agent in a drug bust conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao.

Charged with violation of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is Marvin Ponce del Leon Javier, a resident from Barangay Matina Aplaya, Davao City.

In a resolution approved on March 14, prosecutor Maria Cynthia Adao-Prat found probable cause to charge the accused based on the complaint filed by an agent of PDEA-Davao.

Evidence showed the accused was arrested in a drug bust operation conducted by PDEA-Davao at a lodging house in Shanghai, Matina Aplaya on Tuesday morning, February 21.

The accused was found in possession of one plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or locally known as "shabu," weighing 0.0579 grams, and P1,000 marked money.

Based on the Chemistry Report submitted by PDEA-Davao, the seized item tested positive for shbau.

Adao-Prat said it appears the accused has been lawfully arrested without a warrant and is held liable on the case filed against him.

PDEA-Davao, meanwhile, arrested Wednesday six people, including a woman, in three separate drug bust operation conducted in cities of Davao and Panabo.

The six suspects were identified as Erson Jun Lopez Sapules, Japhet Urbiztondo Ladimora, Jufel Ladimora Primede, Joshua Tanio, Irene Algarme and Antonio Manzano.

PDEA-Davao public information officer Noli Nephi Dimaandal said the six suspects are currently detained at their jail facility and are facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165. (Ivy C. Tejano)
