Events lined up for BJMP's CSR month

THE Bureau of Jail Management Penology (BJMP)-Davao has lined up a series of events in June in celebration of its third Community Relations Service Month.

BJMP-Davao director Senior Superintendent Linda Mingoa told reporters during the Kapihansa Philippine Information Agency (PIA) on Friday that their month-long celebration dubbed "Bawat Isa'y Mahalaga sa Pamamahalan ng Piitan at Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Daan" has already kicked off with a set of activities last week.

"We have already opened the Bazaar of Inmates' Products in respective jails and the launching of the National Inmate's Painting Contest. We have also launched the Regional Literary and Arts Contest," Mingoa said.

The National Inmate's Painting Contest will feature inmates who will be painting in two feet by three feet canvasses. Only two entries will be selected in the region and will be forwarded to the BJMP National Headquarters in Quezon City for the national competition.

The second week of the month-long activity will feature seminars, symposiums and forums in coordination with schools, colleges and universities.

"Our forums and seminars will focus on the requirements to become jail officers. This will be part of our recruitment program so that it would be easier for us to have additional personnel once they know the requirements and benefits of becoming part of BJMP," Mingoa said.

On the third week, BJMP-Davao is set to conduct a community outreach program dubbed "Tulong sa Komunidad, Bayan Maunlad" where they will visit the Charity of Dreams Orphanage in Tugbok District, Davao City.

To cap off the celebration, BJMP-Davao personnel will also conduct a tree planting acitivity, in coordination with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and a medical mission.

Mingoa added that the set of activities is also in preparation of BJMP's 23rd anniversary.
