School Year 2014-2015 officially started last Monday, June 2, 2014 with most of the private schools and colleges start today, June 9, 2014.

The DepEd 11 headed by OIC-Regional Director Nenita E. Lumaad, CSEE welcomed around 803,834 elementary pupils and 265,852 secondary school students who will be taught by the strong teaching force to be beefed up with the hiring of additional 867 Teacher I position for the elementary level and 698 teacher-items in the secondary level. The data are provided by the Office of the Policy, Planning and Research Division headed by OIC-Chief Roy Enriquez. They are also actively involved in the various eSystems in DepEd particularly the Enhanced Basic Education Information System (EBEIS) and the latest Learners Information System (LIS) with the help of the Planning Officers and ICT Coordinators of the region and divisions

The schools in the region were prepared through the Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week (NSMW) slated on May 21-26, 2014 and launched at the Division of Compostela Valley particularly at Pangi Elementary School in Maco, ComVal.

School opening concerns are currently being given attention and action by the Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) through the Regional Information and Action Center (RIAC) and its Division Office counterparts currently being manned by Dr. Mariblanca Piatos, OIC-Chief of Education Support and Services Division (ESSD). All queries and concerns were addressed to the said special task force created to do the information dissemination and act on issues the students, parents, the media people and the general public will be asking.

Mr. Jenelieto S. Atillo, Education Program Supervisor of the Field Technical Assistance and designated Regional Information Officer is tasked as the official spokesperson who will answer the queries of the trimedia and disseminate important concerns needed to be known by the general public while this writer is in-charge of the press release, photo and video documentation and the social media.

The Finance Division headed by OIC-Chief Exuperio L. Morta is doing its best in allocating needed funds to sustain all the programs and projects of DepEd in the regional office proper and the division offices while the Administrative Division led by Chief Administrative Officer Teresita Tambagan and HRMO Lucia Barbarona is doing its share by doing everything to provide the needs of the personnel of the region and the entire division offices for various concerns that involve the welfare of the teaching and non-teaching personnel particularly the encoding of the electronic Personal Data Sheet (ePDS).

In the whole month of May, the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) and the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) headed by Dr. Luzminda O. Onor and Lorna F. Mapinogos respectively with the K to 12 Regional Coordinators, Dr. Janette G. Veloso and Dr. Danilo Canda spearheaded the training of teachers of Grade 3 and 9 of the K to 12 Enhanced Basic Education Program (EBEP).

The Field Technical Assistance Division (FTAD) headed by Mr. Felipe Non Jr. is now consolidating various issues and concerns for possible interventions to sustain the smooth and successful implementation of the programs and projects of DepEd while the Quality Assurance Division (QAD) led by OIC-Chief Dr. Reynante A. Solitario, aside from working doubly hard for the timely release of permits and recognitions to private schools is now doing cluster conference for all the private school administrators to address all issues and concerns involving them.

It is hoped that with this collaborative efforts, the school opening and the rest of the duration of SY 2014-2015 will really be a success for everyone especially to our school children.
