UFC signs another Team Lakay fighter

UNDEFEATED flyweight prospect Roldan Sangcha-an will be the latest Team Lakay fighter to be signed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Following the footsteps of teammate Dave Galera and Mark Eddiva who was earlier signed by the largest mixed martial arts promotion in the world, Snagcha-an debuts in the UFC against Richie Vaculik which was a late addition to the UFC Fight Night 43 event in New Zealand slated June 28.

Vaculik, who has a record of nine wins and two losses was initially slated to fight Jon Delos Reyes but was forced off in the card with an injury.

“We are definitely blessed with Roldan making it to the UFC. This will be a good test for him,” said coach Mark Sangiao in an earlier interview.

Sangcha-an is currently undefeated after four fights scoring two knockouts and two submissions since his initial mixed martial arts debut in April 2012.

Following his impressive rear-naked choke win against Ernesto Montilla Jr. in the second round of their PXC 39 math-up way back in September last year, Sangcha-an was given a title fight which was suppose to take place early this year.

Rambaa Somdet was booked as Sangcha-an’s opponent during the PXC 43 event last March for the promotion’s vacant flyweight strap but Somdet pulled out of the title fight after suffering a herniated disc in training.

Vaculik, a semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter: Smashes,” had a five-fight winning streak snapped in his promotional debut in December when Justin Scoggins stopped him in the first round at UFC Fight Night 33.

The 30-year-old Australian had won five straight fights (all via stoppage) before the setback.

UFC Fight Night 43, which takes place at the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand, is headlined by a middleweight clash between James Te-Huna and former Strikeforce welterweight titlist Nate Marquardt.
