Youngsters outshine veterans in 7th Amo Cup

THE younger generation shone brightest last weekend when Ericka Lim and Clifford Yap took home the top two prizes in the 7th Amo Cup at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, Cebu City.

Lim, 16 years old, bagged the lowest gross plum firing two-over-par 74 strokes playing from the blue tees.

The incoming college freshman, fired nines of 34 and 40 to bag the lowest gross plum.

Yap, 24, fired a net score of 64 strokes off a gross score of 89 to claim the lowest net honors.

The tournament is held annually in honor of the late Albino D. Gothong, who was fondly called Amo by his close friends and business associates. He was responsible for the big-time golf events that were held during the mid-1990s until early 2000 before his death.

The lowest gross honors for class A went to Edward Chu with 76 strokes. (PR)
