SM malls to hold fun run

THE two SM malls in Davao City have joined forces for the holding of "SM to SM Run" on Sunday in a bid to raise funds that will benefit the victims of super Typhoon Yolanda in Visayas.

Speaking in Monday's Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City, Engr. Nick Santos, assistant mall manager, said they are hoping to gather a total of 800 runners for this event. As of Monday, around 400 runners had so far been registered.

He added all proceeds of running event will be donated to SM Cares Yolanda Housing Project, an initiative hatched to build 1,000 houses before yearend.

Of the total, 200 houses have been built, with each unit measuring 22 square meters and a bungalow type.

Santos added they are hoping to help build additional two schools out of the proceeds that can be derived from this fun run. Each home costs around P200,000.

The housing project of SM Prime Holdings is not only centered on hardly-hit Tacloban but also in Cebu and Iloilo Cities.

Assembly time will be at 4 a.m., which will start and end at SM City Davao Parking C, with a 21k turnaround point at SM Lanang Premier.

From SM City Davao, 21k runners will pass though Quimpo Boulevard, Sandawa, Quezon Boulevard, Cabaguio Avenue, and J.P. Laurel, then turn around at SM Lanang Premier and Dakudao Loop back to SM City Davao.

Runners may register for 21K at P500 while for and 5K and 3K at P250.

Cash prizes await winners of the fun run while special prizes will be given to winners with most number of family members joining the run; couples; pet dog and masters; masked hero costume; and father and child.

Registration booths have been put up at the ground floor of SM City Davao and upper ground level of SM Lanang Premier.

Runners are advised to wear white shirts.
