'Shabu Queen' arrested

A WOMAN referred to as "Shabu Queen" by authorities has been arrested at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday.

The suspect, Merycel Balangan Lapitan, alias Cecil and Drug Queen, 26, single and a resident of Nograles Avenue, Barangay 37-D, was arrested at Rizal Extension, Barangay 38-D Poblacion.

Lapitan is originally from Block 18, Apo Street, Metro Montana Burgos, Rodriguez, Rizal Province.

Police Chief Inspector Hamlet M. Lerios, officer-in-charge of San Pedro Police Station, said they have long been monitoring the suspect and decided to conduct the buy-bust operation.

After the suspect took the three P1,000 bills as marked money, the police handcuffed her.

Recovered from her possession was one pack of a substance believed to be shabu worth P3,000 and the P3,000 in marked money.

Upon frisking the suspect, the authorities also recovered two larger packs of shabu, worth P60,000.

The suspect was going to sell them to another buyer but went to sell to the undercover cop first.

The suspect is currently being held at Precinct 2 while awaiting charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Jeepy P. Compio)
